Former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa is set to return to the country on August 24, Former Sri Lankan ambassador to Russia Udayanga Weeratunga hinted today.
He told the media after giving a statement to the CID on MIG Deal that the former President would render a service to the country.
When asked whether he was saying it with responsibility, he said he was saying so at this moment. “The date could change. I am saying it with responsibility today. I can’t help if he changes the date later,” he said.
When asked whether Gotabaya Rajapaksa would engage in politics again, he said he was not a clever politician but a clever officer. “I don’t think our people should be foolish again. He is not a clever person as a politician. He is a clever military officer. He does not have any quality that Mahinda Rajapaksa has. That is why he got all wrong,” he said.
Within the next ten years Namal will be the elected president. People will never learn. Look at the Philippines.
Rajapakshas/ Ranil's sinful acts Wednesday, 17 August 2022 04:26 PM
This country belongs to Rajapakshas and Ranil only. They can do anything they want as there are many donkeys of Rajapakshas in the govt. People have no say.

Ranil’s appointment has helped Rajapakses to achieve their objective. Ranil can now retire with the satisfaction of having accomplished his mission. To Aragalaya it is a short lived complacency

why the "service" he is currently receiving in Thailand is not good enough

This will create a new "ERA" in the politics of Sri Lanka. This should be welcome because the R2R vultures and the West regime change gangs working with the NGO's and INGO's funded the so-called Aragalaya which mesmerized the socially and economically fatigue people who were undergoing many hardships and difficulties to lead a normal life with the stress of the 3 years sufferings of the COVID 19 epidemic and the result of the failure of the economy due to "MASS" corruption by politicians and government officials. No government can exist without eradication corruption in Sri Lanka, but its seems that still they all want it happen. Gota tried to stop it, he paid the price. I know dailymirror.lk will not publish this comment, but I still want to express my right of expression.

Failures are the Pillars of Success Wednesday, 17 August 2022 05:57 PM
GR failed because he was compelled to tolerate corrupt brothers and cronies. Some of the Chairmen he appointed were really educated good guys. However he almost single handedly (with advise from Dr Padeniya, Ven Rathana et al) must take responsibility for the fertiliser fiasco. Not going to IMF he was completely mislead. 560 vipath maga profesionals are silent on the failure and has thrown GR under the bus.

We will celebrate his return at Galle Face with fire crackers. He is a clever military man responsible for the killing of innocent Tamils and Sunday Leader Editor. So we must celebrate.

The Government must make such announcement.

Gota was a failed politician/President, similar to other Rajapakasa', all these swndlers played to the gallery, marketing the war victory with the help of 9 other countries and accumulated wealth, it was fortunate that most of the voters were illiterate, betle chewers, village folks, gardeners, who never had any acumen of the economy, all these culminated the country to face today's scenario.

Without your presence, Sri Lanka is going to SPLIT and soon to be declared TAMIL EALAM. Sadly, your hard attempt to have Sri Lanka as United Sri Lanka failed under new government backed by the US conspiracy.

He is going to go to Srilankan history for giving away all his executive power with out hurting a single person. He could have done the same things doing now,if he wanted . People will realize later as a great leader we had in our history.
The biggest fool ( like April fool) Thursday, 18 August 2022 06:25 PM
Welcome back! If you were able to fool the SL public in the first place they truly deserve to be fooled again until they learn their lesson. The lesson is: “Elect leaders for their competency, not because they will give you 15 lbs free rice”!
