A consignment of 182,400 doses of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines donated to Sri Lanka were flown from Dubai to the Bandaranaike International Airport this morning.
The airport duty manager said the vaccines weighed 1,014 kg packed in 32 cartons.
The stock was the first to have been airlifted from Amsterdam in the Netherlands to Dubai in the UAE, and it subsequently reached BIA at 8.45 am via an Emirates cargo carrier.
The Health Ministry has taken steps to transport the vaccines to their Central Warehousing Complex in Colombo where it will be stored in a specially designed refrigerated facility. (T.K.G Kapila)
