Stephanie appointed to PO Committee due to social service work: Spokesman

Well-known model and former beauty queen Stephanie Siriwardhana has been appointed to the six-member Prison Observation Committee, Prison Media Spokesperson A.C. Gajanayake said, highlighting her background in social service activities. 

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, Gajanayake explained that the committee positions are voluntary and appointments are made following the established procedures of the Prisons Department.  

He added that the main role of the committee is to observe challenges faced by detainees, raise these issues with relevant authorities, and ensure the welfare and well-being of inmates.  

Stephanie Siriwardhana, who won the Sri Lanka Beauty Queen title in 2011 and was later crowned Miss Asia in 2013, is among the inaugural members of the newly established committee.
