Seven year-old girl trampled to death by elephant

In a tragic incident, a seven year-old girl was trampled to death yesterday by a wild elephant at Seenikkugala area in Hambantota. Her father received serious injuries in the encounter with the jumbo.  

He was admitted in critical condition to Hambantota General Hospital.   

Police said the wild elephant had hit the child who was with her father in their Chena.   

The victim Godagedara Hewage Kinuli was a Grade two student of Hambantota Primary School.
