Right to reply DIMO clarifies its vehicle import practices

DIMO denies the references made to the company in the Daily Mirror article dated June 26, 2025, titled “Hundreds of vehicles stranded as Sri Lanka Customs enforces decade-old import rule.” The claim that DIMO opens Letters of Credit (LCs) to Singapore for vehicles originating from India, Germany, or the USA is entirely inaccurate and misrepresents their standard import practices. The company further clarifies that it has not engaged in such import practices as implied in the article quoting DIMO.

Editor’s Note

The reference to DIMO in our article “Hundreds of vehicles stranded as Sri Lanka Customs enforces decade-old import rule,” published on June 26, 2025, was based on a letter sent by vehicle importers to government authorities. The article intended to highlight the industry-wide nature of the cross-border Letter of Credit (LC) practice, as alleged by the importers.
