No decision has been taken to declare April 15 as a public holiday, Home Affairs State Minister Ashoka Priyantha said. He said requests have been made by state officials and public to declare April 15 as a public holiday because of the upcoming Sinhala and Tamil New Year. He told the Daily Mirror that he will discuss the matter with the ministers and President at the Cabinet meeting. However, no decision has yet been taken to announce April 15 as a public holiday.
