I will reveal who is preventing unity within the opposition soon: Ravi K

Member of Parliament Ravi Karunanayake yesterday said he will name the few people who are preventing unity within the opposition in the coming weeks.   

“One must not think of positions but should focus on the country alone. I will reveal as to who is behind preventing unity within the opposition in the coming weeks,” Karunanayake told a media briefing.   

“Sri Lankan opposition should follow the example of the Bangladeshi opposition. Opposition political parties have come together today for the sake of their nation. Same thing is happening in Nepal as well. Sri Lankan opposition should also do the same,” he said.   

He also said there are a few who spoil the United National Party (UNP) as well. “It is not party leader Ranil Wickremesinghe who is spoiling UNP but others,” he said.At the same time, Karunanayake said people’s purchasing power had gone down today. “The basket of goods which people could purchase for Rs 10,000 in January 2025 has declined in 2026. This is the main issue with the economy,” he said.   

“It is important to stabilise the rupee, increase foreign reserves and increase export expenditure in order to make the country’s economy stable,” the MP stressed.
