Group of Peradeniya uni students assaulted

A group of students of the Veterinary Medical Faculty of Peradeniya University had been injured, one of them seriously, when they came under assault during an altercation with the residents of the area  Police said the injured were admitted to the hospital, and one of them had received serious incised injuries.  Investigations revealed that they had gone for a bath in a canal in the Udaperadeniya area and had an altercation with a group of individuals from the area who assaulted them.

Police said the individuals involved in the incident were traders in the Kandy central market and that four suspects were taken into custody. 

The suspects were to be produced in court yesterday. 

Peradeniya Police are conducting further investigations on the instructions of SSP Anuruddha Bandara Hakmana.
