Girlfriend’s double life exposed: love triangle drama ends up at CID

A young woman has filed a complaint against one of her lovers, alleging that he had secretly recorded a video of her upper body and shared it with another man with whom she was also romantically involved.  The complaint was lodged with the Computer Crimes Division of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), which led to the suspect’s arrest.

According to the complaint, after learning that his girlfriend was maintaining another relationship, the suspect had recorded a compromising video of her and sent it to the other man via WhatsApp as a one-time view message, in order to prove her conduct.  

Investigations revealed that although the act was not carried out with malicious intent, under the Computer Crimes Act, possessing or distributing another person’s private videos without their knowledge or consent constitutes an offence. Accordingly, the suspect was taken into custody and produced before court.  

At the initial hearing, the suspect pleaded guilty. The Magistrate pardoned him and released him on bail.
