Freedom Pride Parade The LGBTQ community of Sri Lanka paraded the streets of Colombo today and took part in a cultural ceremony to voice their rights and concerns, themed the ‘Freedom Pride Parade’.
A group of participants clad in various colourful attires took part in the parade from Nelum Pokuna round-about and proceeded through Green Path to Kollupitiya.
The participants displayed posters and placards bearing various messages, including the demand from the Government of Sri Lanka to release Nathasha Edirisooriya, who was remanded recently for her comments at a stand-up comedy. Pix by Pix by Nimalsiri Edirisinghe

Sorry guys to dishearten you and bring you back to reality, but there's only male and female universally....that will never ever change...there's nothing in between. But you live your lives in confusion, but please leave our kids alone. There's no reason to explain your gender to them. Leave them alone.

They were peaceful-Yes they were. No tear gas and water cannons. Moment the students make their protests even they are peaceful they are treated with tear gas and water cannons. Why?

Psychologists have confirmed that "attraction to the same sex is a normal expression of human sexuality, and that most people are consistent in their sexual orientation and report that they did not experience their orientation as a choice. Interventions to change sexual orientation are unlikely to reduce same-sex attraction, and often cause considerable psychological distress when they fail" Let's create a permissable society and learn to live with them. By the way I a not one of them.

What does "de-militarzation NE" or any non homosexual demands that were in this parade have to do with LGBTQ commiunity?

Dear LGBQT members. It's okay to be born the way you are. Also, okay to be proud. I support your freedom and everything else that every citizen should be entitled to. One thing always wondered is, why want to dress and act differently? Is it in you or wanted to show the world that you are different? Nevertheless, All the Best to you guys. For those self-claimed proud Hetro-Sexual guys, please treat them with fairness and equality, like the way you wanted to be treated. Also, FYI: The President is very keen, enthusiastic and supportive of amending existing laws to de-criminalize homo- sexuality. Hatred, cruel comments or other bias actions should be refrained as we are living in the year of 2023. For those who argue that these people bringing dis-respect and dis-grace to you and to the the country, please CHILL. They are NOT and rest assured that, they are not going to come after you. They are us and let us live in PEACE!
