The Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF), in collaboration with Eagles’ Golf Links and Courses, successfully concluded the 5th edition of the Eagles’ Quadrangle Cup at the Eagles’ Citadel Golf Course in Sigiriya.
Held for the first time at the newly established venue, the tournament marked a significant milestone for the course and further highlighted Sigiriya’s potential as a destination for sports tourism, set against the backdrop of the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress and its cultural surroundings.
The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, graced the event as chief guest.
The tournament was mainly sponsored by JAT Holdings PLC, with Browns EV (Pvt) Ltd and LOLC Finance serving as automobile partners. Jetwing Hotels Ltd acted as hospitality partner, while NCG Holdings (Pvt) Ltd and TVS Lanka (Pvt) Ltd came on board as transport and motor riding partners respectively. Pro Golf and King Charters supported the event.
This year’s competition featured four leading golf clubs: Eagles’ Golf Links, Royal Colombo Golf Club, Victoria Golf Resort and Nuwara Eliya Golf Club. Each team fielded 15 players, including at least two female golfers, with final results based on the aggregate of the top ten individual scores.
Royal Colombo Golf Club, led by Nishantha Perera, emerged champions, securing the Eagles’ Quadrangle Cup trophy with the highest overall score.
In the individual categories, Ken De Alwis and Haroon Aslam won the Nearest to the Pin and Longest Drive awards in the men’s division. In the women’s division, Roshan Shyanthi Peries claimed Nearest to the Pin, while Sandra Cardien secured Longest Drive honours. Nishantha Perera finished as runner-up for Best Overall Gross Score, while Pravina Dunuwille was runner-up for Best Overall Net Score. Haroon Aslam had a standout performance, winning both Best Overall Gross Score and Best Overall Net Score titles.
The tournament concluded with an awards ceremony attended by Air Chief Marshal Kolitha Gunathilake, Deputy Chief of Staff Air Vice Marshal Gihan Seneviratne, members of the Air Force Board of Management, and representatives of sponsoring and partner organisations.
