The "Ehipassiko” peace walk, led by Venerable Paññākāra Thera and a delegation of monks visiting from the United States, concluded at Independence Square in Colombo today (28). The monks had been walking across major cities including Anuradhapura, Kandy, and Colombo. President Anura Kumara Dissanayake ceremonially presented a sapling of the Sri Maha Bodhi to the group of monks at the event, marking the conclusion of the peace walk. The symbolic gesture echoed the historic offering by Emperor Asoka, who through Sangamiththa Theri, gifted a sacred Bodhi sapling to Sri Lanka, ensuring the preservation of the Dhamma for generations.
