Tsunami aid received amounting to Millions of Rupees was deposited to a family account by the then PM who was lucky to escape punishment as the then CJ favoured the PM. Of course the money was returned to the government account

This commemoration remembers on one of the greatest tragedies this country has ever experienced and is saddening me. At the same time, it makes me angry when I think that half of the aid money given by other countries and private individuals went into the pockets of nefarious and criminal politicians, some of whom are still in office today.

The tsunami is a once-in-a-century event. Long before, Viharamahadevi and many others might have sacrificed to the ocean, much like how you and I remember the Boxing Day tsunami. It's a sad but important day to remember and honor those who lost their lives in the tsunami.

The T’sunami Hora and his family members are notable absentees at this commemoration. They must be frightened to attend this. How unfortunate that the gods have still not punished them.
