Sri Lanka celebrated today the international World Tourism Day 2022 by hosting a series of events to highlight the contribution of the industry to the national economy.
WTD 2022 in Sri Lanka kicked off with the ‘Rethinking Tourism’ walk and bicycle parade that was from the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) premises to Galle Face Green.
A function, followed Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (SLITHM). The event featured UNICEF Country Representative and Acting Resident Coordinator Christian Stoog, and Minister Mass Media and Transport Bandula Gunawardana as key speakers. However, the inaugural session of the WTD event did not see representations from the Ministry of Tourism.
A second event is scheduled to take place on 29 September in Arugam-bay.
