Senior banker Damith Pallewatte is set to take reins from Jonathan Alles as the Managing Director/CEO of Sri Lanka’s second largest private bank, Hatton National Bank PLC with effect from August 24, 2024.
Alles will be retiring from HNB with effect from August 23, 2024. He will also be resigning from the Board of Directors of HNB with effect from the same date.
“Damith Pallewatte, currently serving as the Deputy General Manager- Wholesale Banking Group of Hatton National Bank PLC has been selected by the Board of Directors at its meeting held on even date to be successor to Alles and the appointment will be effective from 24th August 2024 with the retirement of Alles subject to approval of his fit & propriety from Central Bank of Sri Lanka,” a stock market filing by HNB said.
Pallewatte has over 27 years of experience in the banking sector of which over 14 years in senior corporate management.
He has exposure to the full spectrum of banking covering branch banking, operations and credit including strategy and risk management.
He has also held corporate management positions in two leading private sector commercial banks in Sri Lanka.
