Premier packaging exhibition ‘Lankapak-2016’ to be held in May

To showcase state-of-the-art packaging, The Sri Lanka Institute of Packaging (SLIP) together exhibition organizer, CDC events and connected organisations have organized an all-encompassing exhibition in May 2016.
The 16th edition of the Premier International Packaging Exhibition in Sri Lanka - Lankapak 2016 will take place on the 6th 7th 8th of May 2016 at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Memorial Exhibition Centre. The exhibition is organised by SLIP and its ‘technical arm’, the Packaging Development Centre, Lankapak 2016 which will set the stage for Sri Lanka’s packaging industry to showcase the latest and most sophisticated products and services used all around the world.
This exhibition will educate potential buyers on the new packaging technique which will be of paramount importance to add more value to their products effectively at competitive prices. Lankapak 2016 has been endorsed and supported by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce along with the support of the World Packaging Organization and the Asia Packaging Federation. This year PCL Solutions have extended their fullest support by confirming as the diamond sponsor for Lankapak 2016.
J.D.C Perera - President of Sri Lanka Packaging Institute quoted “ This event is held in conjunction with Food & Bake Colombo 2016, organized by the Chefs Guild of Sri Lanka, headed by Chef. Gerard Mendis and will be held from 6th to 8th May, 2016 in Hall B of the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Memorial Exhibition Centre”. Furthermore he stated that “The Sri Lanka Institute of Packaging will conduct a two day training programme on packaging and its objectives , followed by a one day Congress supported by the Asian Packaging Federation [APF] with resource personnel from Sri Lanka, India and other member countries of the Asian Region.” He also mentioned that “We also have focused our event at the last APF General Assembly held in Istanbul, Turkey from 23rd to 27th November, 2015 and expect many exhibitors from the Asian Region to exhibit their products at Lankapak 2016.”
SLIP is recognized to be one of the oldest packaging industry association in South and South East Asia, and has a proud history dating back to more than four decades of uplifting the standard of Sri Lankan Packagingfrom the deplorable state it was to the highly competitive position it enjoys today. Promotional exhibitions portraying both local packaging developments and the technical advances in the developed world have been held with the participation of regional and global giants in the field of packaging.
“We look forward to the active participation of packaging material and machinery suppliers from member countries of the Asian Packaging Federation, especially India and China, being the biggest suppliers of these items to the Sri Lankan packaging industry.” The upcoming Lankapak 2016 exhibition is expected to be a huge success with the support and effort extended by state and private sector organizations.
