‘Wheels on the Bus’ rolls out joy for 20 little hearts in Colombo

The Leo Club of Thalangama Golden City took 20 underprivileged children on a joyful journey through the heart of Colombo, marking their signature community outreach project, Wheels on the Bus.

Starting their adventure from Galle Face Green, the children hopped aboard a classic double-decker bus, their faces glowing with excitement. With curious eyes and cheerful laughter filling the air, the tour meandered through the vibrant streets of Colombo, offering a glimpse into the city’s charm — from the majestic Colombo Lighthouse to the grandeur of the National Museum, from the historic Town Hall to the marvel of Port City.

For many of these children, it was a day of “firsts” — their first double-decker ride, their first encounter with Colombo’s landmarks, and their first experience feeling truly seen and celebrated.

With the presence of District President Leo Nisal Dulmith and District Vice President Leo Anjana Udesh, the project stood as a shining example of how small acts of kindness can leave lifelong impressions.

The tour ended on a sweet note at the Ramada Hotel Colombo, where the children were treated to a delightful high tea experience — a moment of luxury they had never imagined. Laughter echoed through the halls as the children enjoyed delicious treats, warm company, and the feeling of being cared for.
