Toastmasters Int’l World Champion Sabyasachi Sengupta to inspire SL audiences

  • Toastmasters District 82 hosts exclusive public speaking masterclass on February 22

Sri Lanka will soon play host to one of the world’s most accomplished communicators as Sabyasachi Sengupta, the reigning World Champion of Public Speaking (2025), visits the island from February 21 to 24, 2026, under the auspices of Toastmasters District 82.

Sengupta clinched the coveted World Championship title at the Toastmasters International Convention held in Philadelphia, USA, in August 2025, emerging victorious after a rigorous multi-round global competition involving thousands of speakers from more than 100 countries. Representing Toastmasters District 59 (Netherlands), he captivated judges and audiences alike with his winning speech, ‘Just Nod’, a performance celebrated for its originality, emotional depth and theatrical precision.

The World Championship of Public Speaking, conducted annually by Toastmasters International, is recognised as the largest competitive public speaking event in the world. Contestants progress through multiple levels—club, area, division, district and regional—before reaching the world stage. Winning the championship is considered the highest honour in the field of public speaking and leadership communication.

During his Sri Lankan visit, Sengupta will conduct a high-impact masterclass aimed at helping participants elevate their speaking presence, storytelling ability and audience connection. This exclusive session will be held on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at HNB Towers, Colombo and is open to the Toastmasters members and public.

With over a decade of experience as a speaker, trainer and creative performer, Sengupta is known for blending humour, vulnerability and insight to challenge conventional ideas of communication. His work continues to inspire individuals across cultures to speak with confidence, clarity and authenticity.

Toastmasters District 82 comprises Sri Lanka, the Maldives and the British Indian Ocean Territory and currently supports 168 clubs with a membership exceeding 4,000.

This visit presents a rare opportunity for Sri Lankan audiences to learn directly from a global champion and experience the standards of excellence that define world-class public speaking.
