Seminar on adding socio-economic rights to Lankan constitution today

The implications incorporating socio-economic rights to Sri Lanka’s proposed constitution will be the focus of a seminar by Dr. Pratap Bhanu Mehta, a political scientist with extensive international and South Asian experience.
The public seminar is organised by the Advocata Institute, an independent, free market think tank and Echelon business magazine.
It will be held today at Excel World Auditorium from 5:30 p.m. onwards.
Dr. Mehta has taught at Harvard University, Jawaharlal Nehru University and New York University School of Law. 
His areas of research include political theory, constitutional law, society and politics in India, governance and political economy and international affairs.
He has served National Security Advisory Board, Prime Minister of India’s National Knowledge Commission and a Supreme Court-appointed committee on elections in Indian universities.
He is also on the editorial boards of American Political Science Review, Journal of Democracy and India and Global Affairs.
Dr. Mehta holds a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford and a doctorate in politics from Princeton University.
