Quantity Surveyors Institute launches PAQS Congress 2026

The Institute of Quantity Surveyors Sri Lanka (IQSSL) officially launched Pacific Association of Quantity Surveyors (PAQS) Congress and Conference 2026, at a groundbreaking ceremony titled ‘First Light – PAQS 2026’, at The Kingsbury, Colombo. 

PAQS Congress and Conference 2026 will be held from August 21 to 25, at Cinnamon Life, Colombo, under the theme ‘Constructing the Evolution – Unleashing Human Intelligence’. 

IQSSL President Chartered Quantity Surveyor Indunil Seneviratne, who highlighted the significance of hosting the PAQS, reaffirmed the IQSSL’s commitment to elevating Sri Lanka’s presence on the global construction map. 

He said the event would feature a rich programme, including the young QS workshop and meeting, a golf tournament, technical visits, pre-congress committee meetings, PAQS Congress (board meeting) and PAQS Conference. 

“Together, these events will offer a comprehensive and engaging platform for professional development, knowledge sharing and international collaboration and networking,” Seneviratne said. 

IQSSL Vice President cum PAQS 2026 Organising Committee Chairman Ch.QS Hasitha Gunasekera making an insightful presentation titled ‘First Light – PAQS 2026’ outlined the vision, objectives and plans for the upcoming congress.  

He said the IQSSL, being the sole statutory body representing the quantity surveying profession in Sri Lanka, was established under Act No. 20 of 2007. 

The PAQS, founded in 1995 in Australia, is a leading international association that brings together quantity surveyors, cost engineers and academics from across the Asia-Pacific region. The IQSSL, a Full Member of the PAQS since 2011, previously hosted the congress in the same year. After 15 years, Sri Lanka will once again host this prestigious global event in August 2026. 

‘First Light – PAQS 2026’was also attended by IQSSL Governing Council members including Honorary Secretary Ch.QS Dr. Dilani Abeynayake, Immediate Past President Ch.QS Prof. Kanchana Perera, Honorary Treasurer Ch.QS Jayantha Jayakody, past presidents of the IQSSL, industry leaders and prospective sponsors. 

The IQSSL founder member Ch.QS H.D. Chandrasena and Past President Ch.QS Prof. Chitra Weddikkara officially launched the event website and screened the PAQS 2026 introductory video.
