People’s Bank provides financial literacy to Weboda entrepreneurs




People’s Bank recently organised a special programme for entrepreneurs in Weboda Village, situated within the Mahara Divisional Secretariat area, under its Entrepreneurial Villages initiative.

The programme aimed to enhance financial literacy and strengthen business sustainability among the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Organised by the People’s Bank – Union Place branch, the programme was held at the People’s Tower auditorium recently and brought together 71 entrepreneurs from the area. 

The initiative focused on improving financial knowledge, promoting responsible financial management and encouraging sustainable business development among the local goldsmith entrepreneurs.

The session was conducted by People’s Bank Deputy General Manager Small and Medium Enterprises, Development and Microfinance Wickram Narayana, who shared valuable insights on financial planning, business growth strategies and the importance of sound financial management practices for entrepreneurs.

The event was also attended by National Craft Council of Sri Lanka Acting Directress Western Province Tharaka Kulatunga, People’s Bank Assistant General Manager Development and Microfinance Nalika Liyanage, Regional Manager Colombo South Harindrani Abeywickrama and Union Place Branch Senior Manager V.T.R. Wasantha Kumara, along with several staff members of People’s Bank.

Through initiatives such as the Entrepreneurial Villages programme, People’s Bank continues to empower entrepreneurs across the country by enhancing financial awareness and supporting the growth of MSMEs, thereby contributing to the broader economic development of Sri Lanka.
