National workshop for 2026–2030 tourism strategy launched

The Tourism Ministry yesterday launched a National Consultation Workshop to develop the Tourism Strategic Plan 2026–2030, bringing together representatives from all 9 provinces and 25 districts.

The new plan, succeeding the 2023–2025 strategy, aims to align with national development goals and updated tourism policies while promoting sustainability and inclusive growth. Stakeholders including hoteliers, travel agents, tour guides, academia, and provincial authorities will contribute over the next three to six months, focusing on nature-based, community-driven, and MSME-led tourism initiatives.

The workshop, held at Colombo’s Galle Face Hotel, was sponsored by Visa Global Company, highlighting international interest and public-private collaboration.
