NTB carries out islandwide clean-up initiative

Reaffirming its commitment to a cleaner, greener Sri Lanka, Nations Trust Bank (NTB) successfully carried out an islandwide environmental clean-up initiative that spanned seven beaches (Negombo, Wellawatta, Mount Lavinia, Jaffna, Batticoloa and Weligama), one wetland (Subhuthipura Road) and two lakes (Kandy Lake, Uyanwatta Lake).

This nationwide campaign mobilised the NTB team, united by a shared purpose to protect and restore Sri Lanka’s natural ecosystems. From coastal regions to inland waterways, the initiative underscored how better outcomes are possible when people come together with shared intent and responsibility.

“Sustainability isn’t a checkbox for us. It’s built into our brand DNA,” said NTB Chief Marketing Officer Sanjaya Senarath.

“At NTB, we believe real value comes from creating a positive impact that lasts; whether it’s enabling sustainable financing, nurturing a sustainable culture or being a responsible organisation. The recent clean-up effort reflects that commitment in action, driven by the enthusiastic participation of our staff, who rallied in large numbers to contribute to a cause that goes beyond banking.”

This initiative builds on a series of sustainability efforts that the bank champions under its environmental and social responsibility framework. These include its long-standing partnership with the Wildlife and Nature Protection Society, ongoing support to the Hiyare Animal Hospital for the rehabilitation of injured wildlife and the urban forestry programme that enhances environmental balance in city landscapes.

As NTB continues its journey of embedding sustainability across its operations, these initiatives serve as a reflection of its larger purpose to deliver better for all stakeholders, one action at a time.
