Mercedes-Benz Club of SL sets world record with 635-car gathering in Colombo

The Mercedes-Benz Club of Sri Lanka has set a new world record after hosting a gathering of 635 Mercedes-Benz vehicles in Colombo, surpassing the current Guinness-listed benchmark of 479 cars.

The record was achieved at Mercedes-Benz Pageant 2025, held on February 8, 2026, at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall.

The gathering was officially verified and certified by BDO Partners Chartered Accountants, the club said. The milestone comes as Mercedes-Benz marks 140 years of innovation, tracing its origins to the invention that shaped the modern motor car.

Organised by the Mercedes-Benz Club of Sri Lanka, the event brought together the owners from across the country, showcasing classic, young-classic and the latest Mercedes-Benz models. The pageant also marked 35 years of the club, founded in 1990.

“We are immensely proud of this momentous accomplishment. This event reflects the passion, dedication and unity of our members and the wider Mercedes-Benz family in Sri Lanka,” said Mercedes-Benz Club of Sri Lanka President Asgi Akbarally.

DIMO, the authorised general distributor for Mercedes-Benz vehicles in Sri Lanka, supported the event.

DIMO Executive Director Rajeev Pandithage said the gathering reflected the brand’s enduring owner loyalty and appreciation for automotive excellence in the country.

The club said it would continue fostering connections among the enthusiasts through events, exhibitions and community initiatives.
