LOLC Finance secures ISO 14064-1 certification again

Environment Deputy Minister Anton Jayakody awards ISO 14064-1:2018 certificate to LOLC Finance

LOLC Finance PLC has reaffirmed its strong commitment to environmental stewardship by successfully renewing its ISO 14064-1 Greenhouse Gas Verification Certificate for the third consecutive year.

The certification confirms compliance with the ISO 14064-1:2018 standard, in accordance with the verification requirements of ISO 14064-3:2019.

The independent assessment verified the company’s Scope 1 (Direct GHG Emissions), Scope 2 (Electricity Indirect GHG Emissions) and Scope 3 (Other Indirect GHG Emissions) with a reasonable level of assurance.

The certification, issued by Sri Lanka Climate Fund (Pvt.) Ltd, under the Environment Ministry, covers LOLC Finance’s head office and its entire network of 200+ branches islandwide. This achievement reinforces the company’s systematic and transparent approach to measuring, managing and reporting greenhouse gas emissions, which is an essential pillar of LOLC Finance’s roadmap toward achieving carbon neutrality by 2030.

This latest accomplishment builds upon a strong foundation of environmental initiatives implemented across the organisation. Notably, the LOLC Finance head office was certified under the Green SL Institutional Sustainability Rating System by the Green Building Council of Sri Lanka, becoming the first-ever premises in Sri Lanka to receive this distinction. The recognition reflects the organisation’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure, energy efficiency and responsible operational practices.

Further strengthening its sustainability footprint, LOLC Finance has established waste collection and segregation points across its branch network, embedding environmentally responsible practices at operational level and encouraging employee participation in sustainability efforts nationwide.

The ISO 14064-1 framework enables data-driven emissions management, ensuring that sustainability initiatives are measurable, verifiable and impactful.

LOLC Finance Chief Operating Officer Montini Warnakula stated, “Sustainability at LOLC Finance is deeply embedded in our corporate strategy and decision-making processes. Renewing the ISO 14064-1 certification for the third consecutive year reflects the discipline, accountability and collective commitment of our teams across the island. As a leading financial institution, we believe responsible growth must go hand in hand with environmental stewardship, and we remain firmly committed to achieving our carbon neutrality goals while creating long-term value for all stakeholders.”
