The ASPI closed in green as a result of price gains in counters such as Ceylinco Holdings, LB Finance and Hayleys with the turnover crossing Rs. 5.5 Bn. A similar behaviour was witnessed in the S&P SL20. Crossings were witnessed in Vallibel One, Jetwing Symphony and Hayleys, accounting for 41.1% of the turnover. Mixed interest was observed in LB Finance, John Keells Holdings and Nations Trust Bank whilst retail interest was noted in Browns Investments, UB Finance Company and SMB Leasing. Foreign participation in the market activity remained at subdued levels with foreigners closing as net sellers.
The Capital Goods sector was the top contributor to the market turnover (due to Vallibel One and Hayleys) whilst the sector index lost 0.94%. The share price of Vallibel One increased by Rs 2.75 (2.74%) to close at Rs 103.00. The share price of Hayleys recorded a gain of Rs 3.25 (1.76%) to close at Rs 188.00.
The Diversified Financials sector was the second highest contributor to the market turnover (due to LB Finance) whilst the sector index increased by 1.24%. The share price of LB Finance appreciated by Rs 8.00 (5.65%) to close at Rs 149.50.
Jetwing Symphony Limited and Browns Investments were also included amongst the top turnover contributors. The share price of Jetwing Symphony Limited gained Rs 1.00 (5.78%) to close at Rs 18.30. The share price of Browns Investments moved down by Rs 0.10 (1.23%) to close at Rs 8.00.
