Indices continue to close in green



Indices closed in green as a result of price gains in counters such as Hatton National Bank, Commercial Bank and John Keells Holdings with the turnover crossing Rs. 6.5 Bn. High net worth and institutional investor participation was noted in Commercial Bank, Sampath Bank and Sanasa Development Bank. Mixed interest was observed in Renuka Agri Foods, ACL Cables and Laugfs Gas whilst retail interest was noted in Browns Investments, LVL Energy Fund and Maharaja Foods. Foreign participation in the market activity remained at subdued levels with foreigners closing as net sellers. The Banking sector was the top contributor to the market turnover (due to Commercial Bank, Sampath Bank and Sanasa Development Bank) whilst the sector index gained 2.73%. The share price of Commercial Bank increased by  Rs 5.25 (2.53%) to close at Rs 212.50. The share price of Sampath Bank gained Rs 2.75 (1.85%) to close at Rs 151.25. The share price of Sanasa Development Bank recorded a gain of Rs 7.70 (13.32%) to close at Rs 65.50. 

Capital Goods sector was the second highest contributor to the market turnover (due to ACL Cables) whilst the sector index increased by 0.92%. The share price of ACL Cables declined by Rs 1.75 (1.69%) to close at Rs 102.00. Renuka Agri Foods was also included amongst the top turnover contributors. The share price of Renuka Agri Foods moved up by Rs 0.60 (4.65%) to close at Rs 13.50.
