HNB PLC announced a strategic partnership with Litro Gas Lanka Limited to facilitate card and LankaQR-enabled payments across Litro’s customer touchpoints, including key agents, dealerships and customer service locations.

The collaboration, finalised in April 2025, aims to drive digital convenience and enhance financial inclusion by enabling secure, real-time transactions for domestic gas consumers islandwide.

As part of this partnership, HNB will deploy digital payment infrastructure (POS machines) across Litro’s agent and dealer network, allowing the customers to make payments digitally via card and LankaQR-compatible banking or fintech app.

The initiative supports the Central Bank’s vision of creating a cashless Sri Lanka while offering enhanced security and traceability in daily transactions.

“Digital enablement in essential services like domestic gas distribution is a major milestone in our journey toward national digital transformation,” said HNB Vice President Cards Gauthami Niranjan.

“We are proud to partner with Litro to extend the benefits of digital payments and empower Sri Lankan households with secure, hassle-free payment options at the point of service.”

This partnership is also expected to support Litro’s digital transformation roadmap, improving operational efficiency and offering greater transparency in payment collections across its islandwide distribution chain.

“We are pleased to collaborate with HNB to provide our customers with greater convenience and choice in how they pay for their daily needs,” said Litro Gas Lanka Chairman Channa Gunawardana.

“This partnership aligns with our broader digitisation strategy and commitment to improve customer experience, safety and reliability in our service delivery.”

The collaboration will also extend support to merchants and distributors by improving reconciliation accuracy, enabling quicker settlements and reducing the risks and overheads associated with cash handling.
