The local apparel exporters will have the fresh opportunity to gain firsthand insights and experience of Chinese technology in apparels with the Export Development Board (EDB) gearing up to host an exposure programme.
Come September, the EDB, in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Embassy in China, is organising the Technology Upgradation and Exposure Programme for Sri Lankan apparel sector companies.
As part of the programme, the exporters will receive an opportunity to attend the world’s largest professional sewing machinery exhibition, China International Sewing Machinery and Accessories Show (CISMA) 2025 and to visit the apparel manufacturing companies and fabric markets in China.
“The objective of the programme is to provide exposure to the Sri Lankan apparel exporters/potential exporters on the latest technological innovations and new machinery available for the industry and to provide an opportunity to adopt such new technology innovations to upgrade production facilities to be competitive in the international market,” the EDB said.
In a notice published this week, the EDB said eight to 10 apparel exporters and potential exporters would be selected.
The CISMA 2023 exhibition brought together 1360 exhibitors from China and abroad, including almost all mainstream enterprises in the global sewing machinery industry such as Shang Gong, Jack, Maqi, Zoje, Typical, Dahao, Feiyue, Powermax, Durkopp, Brother and Juki among others.
