President Ranil Wickremesinghe has taken a torch which is burning from both side by trying to fully implement the 13th Amendment to the Constitution, Former President Maithripala Sirisena said today.
He said he wondered why Ranil Wickremesinghe was trying to implement this controversial 13A when the country was facing serious issues.
Mr. Sirisena said none of the former Presidents such as JR Jayawardane who introduced the 13A, Ranasinghe Premadasa, D.B. Wijetunge, Chandrika Bandaranaike, Mahinda Rajapaksa, or himself ever attempted to implement it.
He said it was not an easy task as majority of Sinhalese Buddhists are against it.

In the UK a Hindu is now Prime Minister, in America an African American Obama became President. But here somehow the racism is everywhere hence the backward want to be destroyed attitude of that nation. Continued being dictated to by the nayaka of the thera groups will just lead to ruin. Their attitudes are documented for what caused the massive take out of loans. They want just public works beyond affordability. The Muslim and Tamil will have to realise they will always be 2nd class citizens as long as the 'Bhuddists' want to suppress them this way. Decent developed countries with white people do not allow for religious or cultural discrimination or racism like that.

It is the President's duty to implement 13A because it was passed as a law back then. If majority don't like 13A, it must be annuled through the parlament right away. If not minorities has a right to demand its implementation.
