The sun is expected to be directly over Sri Lanka up to April 15 from today (5) due to the apparent northward relative motion of the sun, the Department of Meteorology said today.
Accordingly, the nearest areas where the sun will be overhead tomorrow (6) are Welipenna, Moragala, Weddagala, Dolekanda, Pallebedda, Angunakolapelassa and Mahirawa around 12:13 noon.
Meanwhile, thundershowers forecast in several places over most parts of the island during the evening or night.
Heavy rains of up to 100 mm are expected in parts of the Western, Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva, North-western, and North-central provinces, as well as the Galle and Matara districts.
Therefore, the general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)

What this means, if our modayas acted wisely we could have produced all our day time electricity needs from solar alone. Corrupt CEB engineers blocked all solar projects for a long time. So is Gota to be blamed for this too. What happens after Gota , are these Unionists going to allow solar power? I do not think so.
