Sri Lanka qualified for the Super Six stage of the ICC World Cup 2023, beating Ireland by 132 runs in Bulawayo today, on the back of Wanindu Hasaranga's third successive five-wicket haul and a maiden century from Dimuth Karunaratne.

Scotland and Oman also progressed to the next round from Group B as a result of Sri Lanka's win.

Chasing a 326-run target, Hasaranga took 5 for 79, to follow up figures of 6 for 24 against UAE and 5 for 13 versus Oman earlier this week.

Mahessh Theekshana taking 2 for 28.

Curtis Campher top scored with 39 off 31, with Harry Tector making 33 fron 35 balls.

Earlier, Karunaratne continued his excellent form since returning to ODI cricket, with a fifth score of 50 or more.

His knock of 103 off 103 deliveries was his first century, which also took him beyond 1000 ODI runs in 36 innings.

In Group A, Zimbabwe, West Indies and Netherlands moved into the Super Six stage.

For last few games Srilankan top order batsmen scored runs However yesterday we noted that middle order batsmen collapsed Besides while they are playing against top teams like Zimbabwe and WestIndies they have to be cautious with their batting. If they wish to qualify for the World Cup

SL cricket made a big mistake by appointing Dasun as ODI captain. They should have kept Dimuth or appointed someone like Dananjya so that they could have kept that number 7 slot for a better odi allrounder. Dasun is fine with T20 but when it comes to ODI he seems to be not good as a captain and batting irresponsibly. We may have a tough time when playing against major teams with current combination. Even sadeera may not perform against big teams as his batting is not fluent. Gave so many edges and chances but luckily survived.
