Six cops injured in Athurugiriya petrol shed clash: Nine arrested

Nine persons including a woman have been arrested in connection with an incident that took place near a filling station in Athurugiriya, police said.

They said a group of people who were waiting in a queue to get fuel behaved in a riotous manner demanding for fuel albeit the petrol shed had run out of fuel.

Six policemen were injured in the incident and were admitted to the Homagama Hospital for treatment.

The arrested are to be produced before the Kaduwela Magistrate today, the police said. (Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
