Security tightened in Akurana

Security has been tightened in Akurana, Kandy following information received by Police, of a possible attack on a mosque.

A Senior Police officer said that authorities have taken every precautionary measure to ensure public security.

Additional Police teams have been deployed, he said, while the Army has also been informed to be on standby.

Military Spokesman Brigadier Ravi Herath said the Army personnel in the area have been kept on standby following the request by the Police.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
