SSP Romesh Liyanage of the STF, who was involved in assault on journalists during the unrest outside Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe’s private home on July 9, had been interdicted.
Police said the Inspector General of Police (IGP) has interdicted SSP Liyanage with immediate effect under the covering approval of the Public Service Commission for not taking action to prevent the attack.
Several journalists were injured after a brutal assault by Police and STF personnel on duty outside the PM’s private residence on Saturday.
Earlier, IGP C.D. Wickramaratne was instructed to take immediate action against the officers following an investigation. (Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)

He was the officer in-charge who gave the orders and interesting to know where he got his orders from or will he end up as the perfect scape goat? Who is the civilian who was with the STF group? He should be identified. That attack on the PMs residence was well coordinated with the CEB providing a window of darkness to complete the mayhem.

Arrest the CEB chairman too for aiding and abetting the torching of RW's house. CEB fellows also should be taught a good lesson

Interdicted? This guy needs to be arrested for assault and inhuman behavior. If IGP is not doing it, then IGP is also supporting criminality in the Police and needs to be arrested.
