Police today clarified into the widespreading images circulating on social media claimed that a jeep issued to the Sri Lanka Police was running on the road with the words 'POLISH, RABUKKANA' painted on the right side door of the vehicle.
Police said the jeep does not belong to the Rambukkana Police Station or the Sri Lanka Police.
It was learnt that a man running a car sale at Wariyapola was travelling in his own jeep to mislead the public.
Accordingly, the Rambukkana Police arrested the man along with the jeep at Wariyapola on April 10, 2021 and handed over to the Wariyapola Police Station.
The man was produced before the Wariyapola Magistrate on April 11, 2021 and detained for 48 hours. However, he was released on bail on April 13, 2021.
Police said a photo of the incident that took place about three months ago surfaced on social media these days. (Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)

All this is because our people pronounce 's' as 'sh', and 'sh' as 's'. Reminds us of a Kopi Kade episode some time back when Dingi Mahathaya got a job to do some polish work and he went round saying he got a job in the Police.

This is all due to the arrogance of the Sri Lankan Police. The total number of O/L passes in any Police Station is less than the number of Policemen and Policewomen working in the station.
