Colombo District Secretary Pradeep Yasarathna said today that only those who had been given both the vaccines would be allowed for mobile trading in the Colombo District during the quarantine curfew period.

He told a news conference that the decision was taken to ensure safety of both the vendors and the customers, as Covid-19 including Delta variant is rampant in Colombo.

He said 12, 294 mobile traders and 1,489 wholesale business outlets have been registered in the Colombo District covering the 13 Divisional Secretaries.

"Mobile traders who have not been fully vaccinated will not be allowed to engage in mobile trading. We have advised them to keep the vaccination card with them whenever they set out for mobile trading. We have instructed the police and health authorities to conduct random checks on mobile traders and take legal action against those who disobey orders," he said. (Ajith Siriwardana)

These food vendors do sterling service to the community..... of all people these guys need to be vaccinated as they constantly come in close contact to people.....especially in lock down. Vaccination reduces the chances of severe Covid.......

If someone is fully vaccinated he/she can still passing the virus to others. Therefore the customers should be vaccinated. It's all blabla. People have to protect themselves. Who don't do this is vulnerable to get infected. In europe it was controlled as the people were more disciplined. Still people without masks running around here.
