Senior Scientist of the Sri Lanka NANO Technology Institute Dr. Kasun Prabuddha said a team of Sri Lankan scientists have invented a new test kit for Covid-19 patients.
He said it would take two hours to get results after testing with the current tools, but the new kit would reduce it to half an hour.
Dr. Prabuddha said a special feature of the RT Lamp PCR kit was that the number of PCR tests performed at a time could be increased. He said the team of scientists had planned the new invention in March this year and that they commenced research in August 2020.
He said the manufacture of the PCR kit had already been approved. (Buddhika Kumarasiri)
