Like the Minister said before Namal should get the credit for this failure too....

When Sri Lanka won the Aisia Cup, they boasted that they will win T20 World Cup as well. Here they lost to infants in cricket. Our guys should stop bragging about what they will do in future and focus on what they can do now.

No worries you can come back . It is not the end of the world .. Do your best next time

Loosing is not a big concern but the manner and margin is. There is a tolerance for everything. Even in Asia cup the first match was a heavy defeat. SL won Asia cup because other main contenders played poorly. But now the conditions and teams are different. So dreaming of repeat of Asis cup is idiotic.

Of course they have to come back. They can't stay in Australia. Only thing they may have to watch the next round of the tournament from the comforts of their home, though that's not my wish.

Now that's what u call a real 3rd class bash!!!!! Well done Namibia !!!! U deserve all praise.... Sri Lanka pls put your tail right between your backside and wait now!!!!

This loss is OK - as long as the team do better in the tournament. If we win the cup that is a bonus. However, I believe the media attention you drew after Asia Cup win was too much.

The greatly over provided for Mahela Jayawadane was on tour with our team. What strategic insight come from him, or is he just one too many coaches/cooks with our team?

It's not always teams win. It's equally the opponents loose. Asia Cup 2022 a case in point. SLns were boating without realising this. But today Namibia won not SL lost. At Geelong I seriously doubt SL can win any match. Perhaps the UAE match. But with the heavy defeat (NRR) in the first match today SL's chances to next round hmmm... fingers crossed. SL's preparations I wouldn't say was not bad; was non existance. Deserving results. First round elimination can do a world of good for SLs cricketing future; a much needed reality check.

This is big blow to our T20 World cup campaign. Really difficult to think whether we could do a comeback with this strong punch. It also can be the knocked out punch.

Whilst winning and losing is part of the game, SLankans tend to over display when success happens. After they won the Asia Cup, they thought they would be unbeatable and started displaying some complacency. There is something called a humility and that should be adhered to. Same thing happened to Women's team when they beat Pakistan. Now SL team has the real danger if being knocked out of the tournament all together. They have a terrible net run rate.

Do not lose heart SL Lions. You can still win the world cup. Please consider the following: 1. It may be Mahela's idea for Goonalillake to bat at 4 but it has failed 7 times in a row. Either let Goonalilake open the innings or replace him with someone who can bat. 2. All 3 fast bowlers got thrashed yesterday. Why wasn't D S. de Silva allowed to bowl even one over? 3. Inspect the wicket and find out the history of the wicket before the match and make an intelligent decision to bat or field first. If you are not sure, bat first and put the opponents under pressure. Good luck R.M

Stale artificial pitch deprived Sri Lanka's imminent triumph. If Sri Lankans batted on the toss won, the result would be otherwise !

Samson De silva Monday, 17 October 2022 08:03 AM

Two days before the game Namibia team's captain stated publicly that his team can beat Sri Lanka. Many of our patriotic fans got disturbed by that and yelled collectively "Onna okaa apey sinhayangen illan kanna yanne." Den sinhayo balu wunaa neda?

Asoka Pandithasekera Monday, 17 October 2022 09:12 AM

Sad to note that our team played like a set of inexperienced schoolboys who were totally irresponsible, who did not show any intention to win the match from the begining.

    Sammy Monday, 17 October 2022 10:14 AM

It is just one loss though very surprising and unforeseen, loosing to minnows. It is to be taken as a huge wake up call for Sri Lanka team to get their act together.

Riki Manin Monday, 17 October 2022 11:14 AM

It should be noted that Sri Lanka won the recent Asian Cup not because of Mahela's advice but in spite of Mahela's advice. The coach and Captain must make decisions and there is no need for advisors. R. M

Nothing to worry as it was not in Test cricket as that what matters. To eliminate the humiliation, SL shall win the two tests in New Zealand to qualify for the final of the test champions at Lords.

These buggers should be less on social media and more on the turf. Bigots. Our fellows are swollen headed, cocky and think no end of themselves. A win here, a win there and they think they are God’s given gift to cricket. Half the fellows have no technical finesse sans any classic technique when batting either. Not even close to the likes of Atapattu, Roshan, Hashan, Ari, Guru, Arjuna, Mahela and Sanga. Those guys kept their head down, shut up and got the job done; unlike these little snowflakes and fruitcakes running around like a bunch of twats.

    Mohan Monday, 17 October 2022 10:21 PM

Namibia is a pretty good team, folks. Got some good fast bowlers.
