Calling for a fresh probe on the Easter Sunday attacks, Archbishop of Colombo Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith today said the incumbent President will be accepted only if he works towards uncovering the hidden truth on the Easter Sunday attacks.
Speaking during a service held at St Anthony’s Shrine, Kochikade, during which Euros 100,000 was donated by Pope Francis to the Easter Sunday victims, Cardinal Ranjith said the present government also must work towards finding the hidden truth with regards to the Easter Sunday attacks.
“We will accept the present President only if he works towards uncovering the truth on the Easter Sunday attacks. The executive summary of the Select Committee has said there could be a conspiracy behind the attack. The incumbent President should work towards uncovering the truth about it,” the Cardinal said.
“Also it is essential to penalize those who prevented the police officer who was going to arrest Zahran who led the attack prior to April 21, 2019. This police officer was arrested for an alleged involvement in a plot to assassinate powerful people. Those who prevented this police officer from arresting Zahran should be penalized as he had also committed a crime similar to Zaharan. We are not seeking revenge for anyone but only want to know the truth” he added.
Apostolic Nuncio (Vatican Ambassador in Colombo) Archbishop Brian Udaigwe said the Easter Sunday Attack had taught Sri Lankans a lesson. “The attacks on April 21, 2019 had taught Sri Lankas a lesson. It had taught the importance of inter religious peace and cooperation in Sri Lanka,” he said.(Yohan Perera)

It is understandable the Cardinal wants action about the Easter bombings but he looks very arrogant in his call. If the Government grants a fresh probe, the expected outcome will also be described in the panel appointment. You should push for international involvement, if there is an avenue. Right Reveran Malcom Ranjith, why a afresh probe, it is a waste of time and money. You should be able to exactly and boldly be able to pinpoint the alleged perpetrators of this cranage, rather than the dereliction of duties of the then, President and Prime-minister, the real criminals, the inciters, those who aided and abetted were explicitly exposed by the presidential commission, what remains is the CID to initiate probes and prosecute the perpetrators without delay. In SriLankan experience 99% of the commission reports ended up in waste paper baskets, after spending a colossal sum. Let justice be done even heavens fall on you (fiat justi-tia ru-at cealum).

It’s obvious this heinous massacre has done by some members of Islamic religious cult which spread world wide, this is neither first nor last of their attacks,they motivated by foolish teachings such as killing non Muslims will open super highway to heaven,truly this maybe not proper Islam teaching but cult believes it. My suggestion to Rev.cardinal is open up dialogue with most superior clergy of every religion and let everyone to say or make a declaration,killing human is unforgivable sin and it doesn’t pave path to heaven instead would have to be in hell for ever,this might minimize future such attacks, which is very possible to be happened

Earlier, when Ranil offered to get investigators from overseas, Cardinal said 'not necessary' and he does not recognize Ranil's presidency. necessary. Now Cardinal says he will recognize Ranil's presidency if fresh probes with overseas investigators are used. Cardinal needs to make up his mind.

Easter attacks are not just only killers work,they are only the center,there were several circles around it ,eg. brigades of thousand strong sword carrying young men were ready in various places around the country, to meet by force if there any blacklash, another round use politically and financially capabilities to cover up the investigations,so it’s good Rev.Cardinal pass this to international investigations

All efforts should be made to rehabilitate the victims and their families, with employment, pension or doll, housing, schooling,medical care, sport activities and create a conducive environment for the victims and their families to integrate with the society, rather than hunting for the perpetrators and wasting the time and money. Law will take it's course failing karma will hunt down the perpetrators.
