JHU Chairman and head of the National Council for a Clean Tomorrow (NCCT) Ven. Athuraliye Rathana Thera today said they were ready to contest the parliamentary election as the third political force and create the country’s next prime minister.

Addressing a news conference organised by the NCCT in Colombo, the Thera said they have come up with a set of proposals to follow at the upcoming election to create a new and a better political culture.

“Our proposals are still open for discussion and we will present them to President Maithripala Sirisena and consult him first. If he is ready to lead the coalition which contributed for his victory in a broader manner, we will join him. Otherwise, we will come forward as a third force and decide who the Prime Minister should be,” he said. (Lahiru Pothmulla)

Just try your best to rally the January 8th forces under a common symbol. Allowing the desperate SLFPs cross-over to UNP would not bare desired results. The vote base of Medamulana must be challenged as an independent force with the assistance of SLFP stalwarts, if possible, including the President.
