Voluntary guidelines for the media
The Election Chief Mahinda Deshapriya is to propose a set of voluntary guidelines on how the media should carry out their coverage during the election period.
Addressing a press conference in Colombo the election chief said there were a large number of complaints on media stations being biased specially during the election period.

“I am planning to prepare a set of voluntary guidelines on how the media should carry out their coverage during the election period after discussion with the media representatives in this regard,” he told the media.
