Teacher caught kissing lady teacher
A teacher in charge of sports at a leading boys school in Colombo was charged before Colombo Fort Magistrate of having forcibly kissed the lady music teacher of the same school.
The prosecution and defence witnesses today concluded their evidence in connection with the case filed against the teacher who was charged with sexual harassment after he kissed the lady teacher without her consent.
The lady music teacher in her complaint to police said she was sexually harassed by the teacher in charge of sports on March 28, 2011.
Giving evidence in connection with the incident, the accused denied the charges levelled against him and told Court that the complainant had a personal animosity towards him. The accused told Court that he was the teacher in charge of the school’s cricket and rugby teams and had won the heart of the principal and the students.
The accused who gave evidence before Colombo Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage said the lady teacher who made a complaint against him had gone abroad with a group of students even without informing the school principal. The accused said he had provided names of the students who took part in the foreign tour accompanied by the music teacher and this had resulted in some kind of personal animosity.(Lakmal Sooriyagoda)
