A man who had come in the pretext of purchasing gems, had fled with nine gems during the transaction in a car from a hotel at Pahala Kadugannawa in Mawanella, a short while ago, the Police said.

The value of the gems was revealed as Rs.260 million. Police said a broker who had come with the suspect had been arrested. The Mawanella and Kadugannawa Police are investigating.
