By Lakna Paranamanna

International Counter Terrorism expert Professor Rohan Gunaratna speaking before the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission today stated that the North Korean Government had sold weapons to the LTTE since 1997.

Prof. Gunaratna who spoke before the LLRC a short while ago said that it was the Auditor/Accountant of the LTTE, Ponnaiah Anandarajah who was operating out of Thailand that conducted the procurement of weapons between the LTTE and North Korea.

Speaking further Prof. Gunaratne stated that although the LTTE has been militarily dismantled within Sri Lanka, its global network still remains untouched.

Most of the people who commented ill about Proffessor Gunaratna should be excused for their ignorance but should be informed of his contribution to Sri lanka during the war with LTTE and the reputation what he has about this subject. Therefore our cardboard heroes please do not insult this great world renowned Profssor.

    Defender Saturday, 02 October 2010 06:57 AM

There are allegations against Dr. Gunaratne's present appearance that he was pessimistic of a war victory over LTTE, some years back.

I think Professor Rohan Gunaratne should expose the Tamil diaspora and their activities to all the Government concerns overseas. One step for the World to eliminate terrorism.

Chathu you are ignorant and with below average intelligence
North Korean embassy was closed in 1970s.WHY.?

    Roshan Saturday, 02 October 2010 05:31 PM

He tried to warn the Canadian Intelligence that those refugees in that boat Ocean Lady (?) who landed in Canada last year, were all LTTErs. But Canadian Police were not convinced. All the boat people were screened and released.

WHY would this person want to do that? Why are we so naive? These were the very same thoughts we had about LTTE and terrorism from the early '80s. We LOVE to just believe what we think is most comfortable. But believe me and the other reports; LTTE are still in place and the Tamils are angry.

Varuna Your comment is stupid and baseless.North Korea is a Pariah State ,no consideration for their citizens. Look at the man who is going to succeed the Leader,
Don't confuse the issue ,be in the side lines. Don't display your ignorance.

Above the crowd Friday, 01 October 2010 02:13 PM

We have an issue with north Korea now. Its a pariah state.
Repressive govt. no media freedom,Leaders live in luxury.

Calistus Jayatilleke Friday, 01 October 2010 02:17 PM

Maybe some people have forgotten that Sri Lanka in the early seventies under Mrs. B's government had to close North Korean embassy for arming the JVP insurrectionists. Cant understand this much close affinity of the government with North Korea and its masters, China. And the funny thing is some of those who comment just blindly believe whatever this government says.

Above the crowd Friday, 01 October 2010 02:18 PM

Rajitha , Readers are leaders, try to read the reports come in the foreign media also .If not your knowledge is going to be very limited.
