Severe weather warning

The Meteorology Department today said heavy rains and strong winds would occur due to an atmospheric disturbance in the vicinity of Sri Lanka.

The Department said rain and lightning would occur over surrounding sea areas and showers or thundershowers would also develop over most parts of the country during the evening.

“Heavy rain fall more than 150 mm are expected at some places and naval and fishing communities are requested to be vigilant,” it said.
