.The Nawgattegama Divisional Secretary was arrested for attempting to sexually abuse a woman and remanded till January 26, 2012.The victim was a mother of three from the Molwewa area. Police said they arrested the Divisional Secretary on a complaint of the woman concerned.
Inquiries revealed that the Divisional Secretary had been under interdiction at the time of the incident allegedly for misusing a government vehicle.

The suspect’s request for bail was rejected by Acting Magistrate Nadvi Nawavi. Navagatthegama police are conducting further inquiries.
