Mother, girl nabbed over shoe shop thievery

The eight-year-old girl who had allegedly taken Rs.55,000 from a shoe shop in Ingiriya with the help of her mother, had been taken into Police custody last night, the Police said.

The CCTV cameras installed inside the shop had captured footage showing the mother encouraging the daughter to steal the money, the Police said.

The daughter had opened the drawer of the shop and taken out the money, while the shop owner was busy selling shoes to customers, according to Police.

The suspects including the 40-year-old mother were produced in Horana Magistrate’s Court.

Since recently, we see highly vicious crimes comparatively higher than what we read happening in other countries. Females killing their babies, men targeting to kill the wife with child and now a mother caught making her own child rob.... which all looks extremely crude. Even today, a female legislature Hirunika, educated had kidnapped a youth with her supporters and further justifies her action. Are we still an uncivilized race?

what will be the mental condition of this innocent girl when in the police custody. it can be a serious damage to her if something happens to this girls mental status. innocent child becomes the victim of parents poverty.there are children who never stay a night without their parents
