From whose money will the new pension will be paid out? Borrowed money? Printed money? 100% taxes on goods? When you present proposals show the means of financing it as well?

The government needs to come up with a superannuation policy in which all those working will have a separate fund which cannot be touched until they reach retirement or disability. The fund should be managed by private institutions such as banks and employees should have the right to choose what the funds should invest in, thus making them more aware of the SL economy and promoting it to be a global leader - RATHER than relying on politician's promises.

This silly idea from the UNPO Opposition Spokesman sounds great. But does he realise that this kind of folly will lead to bankruptcy of future generations. Does he want to bequeath to our children such a burden. The fact is pensions have to be paid for, and it has to be the responsibility of each one of us to save for our retirement. There is no 'fairy god mother' who can wave a magic wand and provide pensions. I am afraid my opinion of Mr Gayantha Karunathilleke has plummetted.
