LG elections likely to be postponed
Government is likely to postpone the Local Government elections scheduled to be held in March 2016, State Minister of Finance, Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena today said.“We have received nearly 700 objections with regard to delimitation. The delimitation has to be completed before the elections are held,” he said.
However, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said on September 29 that the government had no intention of postponing the LG elections fixed for March, 2016.
